Abu Musa narrated: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Indeed,
Allah Almighty and Exalted does not sleep and it is not befitting that
He sleep. He lowers and raises the scale. The deeds of the night are
raised to Him before the deeds of the day, and the deeds of the day are
raised to Him before the night. His veil is light. [In the hadith narrated by Abu Bakr the word is “fire” instead of light]. If He were to remove the veil, the splendor of his countenance would consume His creation as far as can be seen.”
