Hadith on Faith: The most beloved religion to Allah is a simple belief in one God

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was asked, “Which religion is the most beloved to Allah?” He said, “Simple belief in one God.”

[Musnad Ahmad, Number 2108, Sahih]

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قِيلَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّ الْأَدْيَانِ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ قَالَ الْحَنِيفِيَّةُ السَّمْحَةُ

2108 مسند أحمد وَمِنْ مُسْنَدِ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ المُطَّلِبِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ – أي الأديان أحب إلى الله قال الحنيفية السمحة

Al-Qadi Iyad: It is disliked to shave the beard but not absolutely prohibited

Ibn Hajr Al-Asqalani reported: Al-Qadi Iyad said, “It is disliked to cut, shave or trim the beard.”

وَقَالَ عِيَاضٌ : يُكْرَهُ حَلْقُ اللِّحْيَةِ وَقَصُّهَا وَتَحْذِيفُهَا

Hadith on Dress: The Sunnah of trimming the moustache and letting the beard grow

Ibn Umar reported: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, “Trim your moustaches and grow your beards.”
