Abu Umama Al-Bahili reported: Two men were mentioned before the
Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, one of them a worshipper, the
other a scholar. So the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “The superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like my superiority over the least of you.” Then he said, “Indeed,
Allah, His angels, and the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth –
even the ant in his hole, even the fish – send blessings upon the one
who teaches people to do good.”
Al-Fudayl ibn Iyad would say, “A scholar who works in teaching has a high status in the domains of the heavens.”
