Uthman ibn Abu Al-As reported: He invited invited Mutarraf to drink some milk and he said, “I am fasting.” Uthman said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, saying, “Fasting is a shield from the Hellfire just like the shield of any of you in battle.”

لَهُ بِلَبَنٍ يَسْقِيهِ قَالَ مُطَرِّفٌ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ مِنْ النَّارِ كَجُنَّةِ أَحَدِكُمْ مِنْ الْقِتَالِ
