Hadith on Ramadan: Allah saves people from Hellfire during every night of Ramadan

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “On the first night of the month of Ramadan, the devils are chained, the jinn are restrained, and the gates of Hellfire are closed and none of its gates are opened. The gates of Paradise are opened and none of its gates are closed. A caller announces: O seeker of good, come near! O seeker of evil, stop short! Allah will save them from the Hellfire and that is during every night of Ramadan.”

Hadith on Hereafter: Paradise and Hellfire supplicate for the believers

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever asks Allah for Paradise three times, Paradise will say: O Allah, admit him into Paradise. Whoever seeks protection from Hellfire three times, Hellfire will say: O Allah, save him from the Hellfire.”

Hadith on Hereafter: Paradise and Hellfire supplicate for those who ask Allah

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No Muslim man asks Allah the Exalted for Paradise three times but that Paradise will say: O Allah, admit him into Paradise. He does not seek protection from the Hellfire three times but that the Hellfire will say: O Allah, grant him protection from the Hellfire.”

Hadith on Hereafter: Remember the Hellfire during severe weather of summer and winter

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When the heat is severe, then let it cool down for prayer. Verily, severe heat is from the raging of Hell. The Hellfire complained to its Lord saying: My Lord, my parts are eating each other. So it was given permission to make a breath in the winter and a breath in the summer. They are the strongest heat you feel and the strongest cold you feel.”

Hadith on Faith: The sweetness of faith is to love Allah, His Messenger, and the people

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “None will taste the sweetness of faith until he loves a person only for the sake of Allah, until he would rather be thrown in the fire than to return to unbelief, and until Allah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than anything else.”

Hadith on Hellfire: Bring one believer from every thousand to go to Paradise and send the rest to Hellfire

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah will say: O Adam! Adam will reply: I am at Your service. Allah will say: Bring out the people of the Hellfire. Adam will say: Who are the people of the Hellfire? Allah will say: They are nine hundred and ninety-nine of every thousand. At that time, the hair of children will turn gray and every pregnant woman will drop her load and you will see people in a state of drunkness, although they are not intoxicated, for the punishment of Allah is severe.” This news greatly distressed the companions and they said, “O Messenger of Allah, who is the one man who will be saved?” He said, “The good news is that the one thousand will be from the nations of Gog and Magog and the one will be from your nation.” Then he said, “By the one in whose hand is my soul, I hope you will be a third of the people of Paradise.” Then we praised Allah and exalted Him, and he said, “By the one in whose hand if my soul, I hope you will be half of the people of Paradise. Verily, your example is that of a white hair on the skin of a black ox, or  a hairless spot on the leg of a donkey.”

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ يَا آدَمُ فَيَقُولُ لَبَّيْكَ وَسَعْدَيْكَ وَالْخَيْرُ فِي يَدَيْكَ قَالَ يَقُولُ أَخْرِجْ بَعْثَ النَّارِ قَالَ وَمَا بَعْثُ النَّارِ قَالَ مِنْ كُلِّ أَلْفٍ تِسْعَ مِائَةٍ وَتِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ فَذَاكَ حِينَ يَشِيبُ الصَّغِيرُ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَمْلَهَا وَتَرَى النَّاسَ سَكْرَى وَمَا هُمْ بِسَكْرَى وَلَكِنَّ عَذَابَ اللَّهِ شَدِيدٌ فَاشْتَدَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّنَا ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ قَالَ أَبْشِرُوا فَإِنَّ مِنْ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ أَلْفًا وَمِنْكُمْ رَجُلٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنِّي لَأَطْمَعُ أَنْ تَكُونُوا ثُلُثَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ فَحَمِدْنَا اللَّهَ وَكَبَّرْنَا ثُمَّ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنِّي لَأَطْمَعُ أَنْ تَكُونُوا شَطْرَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ إِنَّ مَثَلَكُمْ فِي الْأُمَمِ كَمَثَلِ الشَّعَرَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ فِي جِلْدِ الثَّوْرِ الْأَسْوَدِ أَوِ الرَّقْمَةِ فِي ذِرَاعِ الْحِمَارِ

Hadith on Hereafter: By your glory, I fear no one will enter Paradise or escape Hellfire

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When Allah created Paradise and Hellfire, He sent Gabriel to Paradise, saying: Look at it and at what I have prepared therein for its inhabitants. So Gabriel came to it and looked at it and at what Allah had prepared therein for its inhabitants. He returned to Him and said: By your glory, no one hears of it without entering it. So He ordered that it be encompassed by forms of hardship, and He said: Return to it and look at what I have prepared therein for its inhabitants. So Gabriel returned to it and found that it was encompassed by forms of hardship. Then he returned to Allah and said: By Your glory, I fear that no one will enter it. Allah said: Go to Hellfire and look at it and what I have prepared therein for its inhabitants. Gabriel found that it was in layers, one above the other. Then he returned to Allah and said: By Your glory, no one who hears of it will enter it. So Allah ordered that it be encompassed by lusts. Then He said: Return to it, and Gabriel returned to it and he said: By Your glory, I fear that no one will escape it.”

Hadith on Knowledge: O Allah, teach me what will benefit me and benefit me from what I learn

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “O Allah, benefit me with what you have taught me and teach me what will benefit me, and increase me in knowledge. All praise is due to Allah in every circumstance and I seek refuge in Allah from the circumstances of the people of the Hellfire.”

[Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Book of Supplications, Number 3599, Hasan]

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي وَعَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي وَزِدْنِي عِلْمًا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ وَأَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ حَالِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ

Hadith on Arafat: Allah frees His servants from Hellfire on the day of Arafat during the Hajj pilgrimage

Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “There is no day upon which Allah frees His servants from the Hellfire more than the day of Arafat; He draws near and then He praises them to the angels, saying: what do these want?”

قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا مِنْ يَوْمٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَنْ يُعْتِقَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ عَبْدًا مِنْ النَّارِ مِنْ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ وَإِنَّهُ لَيَدْنُو ثُمَّ يُبَاهِي بِهِمْ الْمَلَائِكَةَ فَيَقُولُ مَا أَرَادَ هَؤُلَاءِ

Hadith on Warning: The Prophet was sent to warn people about Hellfire, just as a man warns his people about an enemy army

Abu Musa reported: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, “Verily, the parable of what Allah has sent to me is that of a man who came to us and said: O people, I have seen an army with my eyes and I am a clear warner to you that you should immediately find a means of escape. A group of people among them paid attention and fled to a place of safety; and a group among them belied him and when the morning came, the army attacked them and they were routed. That is the parable of the one who obeys me and follows that with which I have been sent, and the parable of the other is the one who has disobeyed me and belied the truth with which I have been sent.”

[Sahih Muslim, Book 30, Number 5669]

عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ مَثَلِي وَمَثَلَ مَا بَعَثَنِيَ اللَّهُ بِهِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ أَتَى قَوْمَهُ فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ الْجَيْشَ بِعَيْنَيَّ وَإِنِّي أَنَا النَّذِيرُ الْعُرْيَانُ فَالنَّجَاءَ فَأَطَاعَهُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ فَأَدْلَجُوا فَانْطَلَقُوا عَلَى مُهْلَتِهِمْ وَكَذَّبَتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ فَأَصْبَحُوا مَكَانَهُمْ فَصَبَّحَهُمْ الْجَيْشُ فَأَهْلَكَهُمْ وَاجْتَاحَهُمْ فَذَلِكَ مَثَلُ مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي وَاتَّبَعَ مَا جِئْتُ بِهِ وَمَثَلُ مَنْ عَصَانِي وَكَذَّبَ مَا جِئْتُ بِهِ مِنْ الْحَقِّ

Hadith on Fasting: Fasting is a shield from Hellfire just like a shield in battle

Uthman ibn Abu Al-As reported: He invited invited Mutarraf to drink some milk and he said, “I am fasting.” Uthman said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, saying, “Fasting is a shield from the Hellfire just like the shield of any of you in battle.”

أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ الثَّقَفِيَّ دَعَا لَهُ بِلَبَنٍ يَسْقِيهِ قَالَ مُطَرِّفٌ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ مِنْ النَّارِ كَجُنَّةِ أَحَدِكُمْ مِنْ الْقِتَالِ

Hadith on Mercy: Allah is more merciful to His servants than a mother is to her child

Umar ibn Al-Khattab reported: Some prisoners of war were brought in front of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and a woman was among them who was breast-feeding. Whenever she found a child among the prisoners, she would take it to her chest and nurse it. The Prophet said to us, “Do you think this woman could throw her child in the fire?” We said, “No, not if she is able to stop it.” He said, “Allah is more merciful to His servants than a mother is to her child.”

[Sahih Bukhari, Book 73, Number 28]

عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَدِمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبْيٌ فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ السَّبْيِ قَدْ تَحْلُبُ ثَدْيَهَا تَسْقِي إِذَا وَجَدَتْ صَبِيًّا فِي السَّبْيِ أَخَذَتْهُ فَأَلْصَقَتْهُ بِبَطْنِهَا وَأَرْضَعَتْهُ فَقَالَ لَنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتُرَوْنَ هَذِهِ طَارِحَةً وَلَدَهَا فِي النَّارِ قُلْنَا لَا وَهِيَ تَقْدِرُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا تَطْرَحَهُ فَقَالَ لَلَّهُ أَرْحَمُ بِعِبَادِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ بِوَلَدِهَا
