Hadith on Fasting: Recommendation to fast six days in the month following Ramadan

Abu Ayub Al-Ansari reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan and then follows it with six days of fasting during the month of Shawwal will be as if he fasted for the year.”

عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ أَتْبَعَهُ سِتًّا مِنْ شَوَّالٍ كَانَ كَصِيَامِ الدَّهْرِ
