Hadith on Ramadan: The Umrah pilgrimage during Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to an Ansari woman, “What prevented you from performing the Hajj pilgrimage with us?” She said, “We have a camel and the father of so-and-so and his son rode it and left only one camel for us to use for irrigation.” The Prophet said, “Perform the Umrah pilgrimage when Ramadan arrives, for Umrah during Ramadan is equal to the Hajj pilgrimage.”

Hadith on Praise: Glorify and exalt Allah and ask for His forgiveness ten times

Salma Umm Rafi’ reported: She said, “O Messenger of Allah, teach me some words but do not make it too much for me.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Say Allah is the greatest ten times. Allah the Exalted will say: This is for me. Say glory be to Allah ten times. Allah the Exalted will say: This is for me. Say: O Allah forgive me. Allah will say: I have done so. If you say it ten times, Allah will say each time: I have done so.”

Hadith on Reward: Allah mutiplies great deeds up to seven hundred times as much

Abu Mas’ud reported: A man came with a bridled camel and he said, “This is for the cause of Allah.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “You will have for it seven hundred camels on the Day of Resurrection. Each of them will be bridled.”

Hadith on Jihad: No reward for one who fights for spoils, honor, zeal, or worldly gains

Abu Huraira reported: A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, a man intends to fight for the sake of Allah and he is seeking worldly gains.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There is no reward for him.” The people found that very difficult and they said, “Return to the Messenger of Allah, for perhaps he did not understand you.” The man returned and he said, “O Messenger of Allah, a man intends to fight for the sake of Allah and he is seeking worldly gain.” The Messenger of Allah said, “There is no reward for him.” Then he returned a third time and the Messenger of Allah said, “There is no reward for him.”

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الرَّجُلُ يُرِيدُ الْجِهَادَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ يَبْتَغِي عَرَضَ الدُّنْيَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا أَجْرَ لَهُ فَأَعْظَمَ النَّاسُ ذَلِكَ وَقَالُوا لِلرَّجُلِ عُدْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَعَلَّهُ لَمْ يَفْهَمْ فَعَادَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الرَّجُلُ يُرِيدُ الْجِهَادَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ يَبْتَغِي عَرَضَ الدُّنْيَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا أَجْرَ لَهُ ثُمَّ عَادَ الثَّالِثَةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا أَجْرَ لَهُ

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Whoever eats lawful food, works according to the Sunnah, and the people are safe from his evil; then he will enter Paradise.” A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, indeed, today there are many people.” He said, “They will be from generations after me.”

Hadith on Fasting: Recommendation to fast six days in the month following Ramadan

Abu Ayub Al-Ansari reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan and then follows it with six days of fasting during the month of Shawwal will be as if he fasted for the year.”

Ibn Taymiyyah: Permission to relate weak narrations only as supporting evidence for established good manners

Ibn Taymiyyah said, “It is not permissible to establish something in the Sharia based upon a weak narration which is not authentic or good, but Ahmad bin Hanbal and other scholars considered it permissible to narrate regarding virtuous deeds which are not known to be affirmed but when it is known not to be a lie. That is because when the action is known to be legislated with authentic evidence and it is not known to be a false narration, then it is possible that the reward is true, but not one of the Imams said that he considered it to be permissible to make something obligatory or recommended based upon a weak narration.”

قال ابن تيمية ولا يجوز أن يعتمد في الشريعة على الأحاديث الضعيفة التي ليست صحيحة ولا حسنة، لكن أحمد بن حنبل وغيره من العلماء جوزوا أن يروى في فضائل الأعمال ما لم يعلم أنه ثابت إذا لم يعلم أنه كذب، وذلك أن العمل إذا علم أنه مشروع بدليل شرعي وروى حديث لا يعلم أنه كذب جاز أن يكون الثواب حقا، ولم يقل أحد من الأئمة أنه يجوز أن يجعل الشيء واجبا أو مستحبا بحديث ضعيف

Hadith on Martyrdom: A Muslim who sincerely asks for martyrdom will be given the status of a martyr even if he dies a natural death

Sahl ibn Abu Umamah reported: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, “Whoever sincerely asks Allah for martyrdom will be given the status of a martyr from Allah even if he were to die on his bed.”
