Hadith of Gabriel: He was Gabriel who came to teach the people their religion of Islam, Faith, and Excellence

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, appeared before the public one day when a man came to him and said, “O Messenger of Allah, what is faith?” He said, “Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His meeting (on the Day of Judgment), His messengers, and to believe in the resurrection in the Hereafter.” He said, “O Messenger of Allah, what is Islam?” He said, “Islam is to worship Allah alone without associating anything with Him, to establish the prescribed prayer, to give obligatory charity, and to fast the month of Ramadan.” He said, “What is excellence?” He said, “Excellence is to worship Allah as if you see Him, for verily, He sees you.” He said, “When is the Hour?” He said, “The one who is asked does not know more than the one asking. Rather, I will relate to you some of its signs; when the slave-girl gives birth to her master is among its signs; when the naked and barefooted will become chiefs of the people is among its signs; when the shepherds of black camels will exult themselves in constructing building is among its signs; concerning the fifth sign, none knows it but Allah.” Then he recited, “Indeed, Allah alone has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted (31:34).” Then the turned away and left. The Messenger of Allah said, “Bring him back to me,” but they went to bring him back and saw nothing there. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “He was Gabriel, who came to teach the people their religion.

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: A man came to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and said, “Teach me to recite, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “Recite three Surahs which begin with Alif Lam Ra.” He said, “I have become old, my heart is hard and my tongue is coarse.” He said, “Then recite three which begin with Ha Mim.” He said likewise it was difficult. He said, “Recite three which begin with the glorification of Allah.” He said likewise it was difficult, and said, “O Messenger of Allah, teach me to recite a Surah which is comprehensive and I will recite it.” The Prophet recited, “When the earth will be shaken… (99:1)” until he finished it. The man said, “By Him who sent you with the truth, I will not add anything to it forever.” Then the man turned away and the Prophet said twice, “The little man has succeeded.”

Hadith on Prayer: The first action to be judged by Allah will be the obligatory prayers

Huraith Ibn Qabisa reported: I approached Medina and I said, “O Allah, make easy for me a righteous gathering.” Then I sat with Abu Huraira and I said, “Indeed, I asked Allah to provide me with a righteous gathering so narrate to me something you have heard from the Messenger of Allah that perhaps Allah will benefit me through it.” He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, say, “The first actions for which a servant of Allah will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayers. If they are in order, then he will have prospered and succeeded; but if they are lacking, then he will have failed and lost. If there is something defective in his obligatory prayers then the Lord the Exalted will say: see if My servant has any extra prayers which can complete what is defective in his obligatory prayers. Then the rest of his actions will be judged in the same way.”

Hadith on Judgment: Every person will stand before Allah without a barrier or interpreter

Adi ibn Hatim reported: I was in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, when two men came, one complaining of poverty and the other complaining of robbery on the highways. The Messenger of Allah said, “As for the obstruction of the roads, it will not be long until a caravan will travel to Mecca without any guard. As for poverty, the Hour will not be established until one of you goes out looking to give charity but will find no one to accept it. Each one of you will stand in front of Allah without a barrier or interpreter between him and Allah. Allah will ask: Did I not give you wealth? He will say yes. Allah will ask: Did I not send you a messenger? He will say yes. Then he will look to his right and see nothing but Hellfire, and he will look to his left and see nothing but Hellfire. Therefore, any one of you should save himself from the Fire by giving even a half of a date in charity, and if you do not have it then say a kind word.

Hadith on Forgiveness: On the Day of Resurrection, the believers will have an intimate conversation with Allah

Safwan ibn Muhriz reported: A person said to Ibn Umar, “What did you hear from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, about the personal conversation (with Allah on the Day of Resurrection)?” He said,
I heard him saying: A believer will be brought before his Lord the Exalted on the Day of Resurrection and He will place upon him His veil and make him confess his sins, saying: Do you recognize? He will say: My Lord, I do recognize. Allah will say: I concealed them for you in the world and today I forgive you. He will then be given the book containing his good deeds. As for the disbelievers and hypocrites, there will be a general announcement before all creation declaring that these people had lied about Allah.”

[Sahih Muslim, Book 37, Number 6669]

Hadith on Oppression: Guard yourself from committing oppression, unlawfulness, or greed

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Guard yourself from oppression, for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. Guard yourself from greed, for greed destroyed those before you. It caused them to shed blood and to make lawful what was unlawful.”

Hadith on Charity: Do you know who the truly bankrupt are?

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, asked, “Do you know who the bankrupt are?” They said, “The one without money or goods is bankrupt.” So the Prophet said, “The bankrupt are those from my nation who come on the Day of Resurrection with prayer, fasting, and charity, but comes also insulting, slandering, consuming wealth, shedding blood, and beating others. They will each be given from his good deeds; if his good deeds run out before the score is settled, their bad deeds will be cast upon him, then he will be thrown into the Fire.”

Hadith on Forgiveness: The story of the humble sinner in Paradise and the arrogant worshipper in Hellfire

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: Two men among the Children of Israel were opposite of each other. One of them was a sinner and the other would strive in worship. The one who strove would see the one sinning and would tell him to stop. One day he found him sinning so he said, “Stop!” The sinner said, “Leave me alone, by my Lord. Have you been sent as a watchman over me?” The worshipper said, “By Allah, Allah will not forgive you or enter you into Paradise.” Later their souls were taken (after death) and they met in the presence of the Lord of the Worlds. Allah said to the one who strove, “Did you have knowledge of Me? Or did you have power over what is in My Hand?” He said to the sinner, “Enter Paradise by My Mercy.” And He said to the worshipper, “Take him to the Hellfire.” Abu Huraira said, “By the one in whose Hand is my life, he spoke a word which ruined him in this world and the Hereafter.”

Hadith on Prayer: Allah promises to forgive whoever sincerely completes the five prayers

Ubadah ibn As-Samit رضى الله عنه reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم saying, “Allah the Exalted has made five prayers obligatory. Whoever performs their ablution well, prays them at their proper time, and completes their bowing and their reverence due, then Allah has promised to forgive him. And whoever does not do so has no promise from Allah. If He wills, He will forgive him; and if He wills, He will punish Him.
