Hadith on Eid: The Prophet’s wisdom in returning home by different paths on Eid

Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would return on the day of Eid by using a different route from which he came.
Source: Sahih Bukhari 943, Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Bukhari
Ibn Al-Qayyim said, “It is said that the reason he did this was to greet the people with peace who lived on both fairways, or so that the blessings of his passing would reach both areas, or to fulfill the needs of those among them. It is said that he did so to establish the symbols of Islam in the various roads and paths. Another reason given is that he did so to frustrate the hypocrites when they witnessed the might of Islam and its people. It is said that he did so in order for the various areas to testify to his obedience to Allah. Surely, he who walks to the mosque and the place of prayer will earn this virtue: one step raises him a degree and another erases a sin until he returns home. It is also said, and this is the correct opinion, that all the reasons mentioned here are possible as well as other unknown wisdom that always accompanied his actions.”

Ibn Taymiyyah: Jihad against the soul is the foundation for all other types of Jihad

Ibn Al-Qayyim reported: Our Sheikh, Ibn Taymiyyah, said, “Jihad against the soul and desires is the foundation of Jihad against the disbelievers and hypocrites. Indeed, it is not possible to strive against them until one strives against himself and his desires; then he can go out against them.”

[Ibn Al-Qayyim, Rawdah Al-Muhibbeen]

قال ابن القيم شيخنا يقول جهاد النفس والهوى أصل جهاد الكفار والمنافقين فإنه لا يقدر على جهادهم حتى يجاهد نفسه وهواه أولا حتى يخرج إليهم

Hadith on Hypocrisy: The signs of hypocrisy are false speech, treachery, breaking promises, and evil argumentation

Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “There are four signs which make someone a pure hypocrite, and whoever has them has the characteristic of hypocrisy until he abandons it: when he speaks he lies, when he makes a covenant he proves treacherous, when he makes a promise he breaks it, and when he argues he proves wicked.”

Hadith on Forgiveness: On the Day of Resurrection, the believers will have an intimate conversation with Allah

Safwan ibn Muhriz reported: A person said to Ibn Umar, “What did you hear from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, about the personal conversation (with Allah on the Day of Resurrection)?” He said, “I heard him saying: A believer will be brought before his Lord the Exalted on the Day of Resurrection and He will place upon him His veil and make him confess his sins, saying: Do you recognize? He will say: My Lord, I do recognize. Allah will say: I concealed them for you in the world and today I forgive you. He will then be given the book containing his good deeds. As for the disbelievers and hypocrites, there will be a general announcement before all creation declaring that these people had lied about Allah.”
[Sahih Muslim, Book 37, Number 6669]
