Hadith on Faith: The sweetness of faith is to love Allah, His Messenger, and the people

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “None will taste the sweetness of faith until he loves a person only for the sake of Allah, until he would rather be thrown in the fire than to return to unbelief, and until Allah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than anything else.”

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَجِدُ أَحَدٌ حَلَاوَةَ الْإِيمَانِ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ الْمَرْءَ لَا يُحِبُّهُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ وَحَتَّى أَنْ يُقْذَفَ فِي النَّارِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ إِلَى الْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أَنْقَذَهُ اللَّهُ وَحَتَّى يَكُونَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِمَّا سِوَاهُمَا

Hadith on Love: Tell your brothers and sisters in Islam that you love them

Al-Miqdam ibn Ma’di reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When a man loves his brother, then let him tell him.”

عَنْ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ وَقَدْ كَانَ أَدْرَكَهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا أَحَبَّ الرَّجُلُ أَخَاهُ فَلْيُخْبِرْهُ أَنَّهُ يُحِبُّهُ

Hadith of Supplication: The Prophet’s supplication he taught to Mu’adh because he loved him

Mu’adh ibn Jabal reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took me by the hand and he said, “O Mu’adh, I swear by Allah that I love you. I swear by Allah that I love you.” And he said, “I advise you, O Mu’adh, not to forget supplicating after every prayer, saying: O Allah, help me to remember you, give thanks to you, and worship you in the best manner.”

عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ وَقَالَ يَا مُعَاذُ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ فَقَالَ أُوصِيكَ يَا مُعَاذُ لَا تَدَعَنَّ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ تَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Hadith on Ansar: Allah will love those who love the companions that supported the emigrants

Al-Bara reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said about the Ansar, “None loves them but a believer and none hates them but a hypocrite. Whoever loves them, then Allah will love him, and whoever hates them, then Allah will hate him.

Hadith on Faith: The best faith is to love good for others, to hate evil others, and righteous speech

Sahl ibn Mu’adh reported: His father heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, “The most virtuous faith is to love for the sake of Allah, to hate for the sake of Allah, and to work your tongue in the remembrance of Allah.” Mu’adh said, “What is it, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “That you love for the people what you love for yourself, and you hate for the people what you hate for yourself, and that you speak goodness or remain silent.

[At-Tabarani, Mu'jam Al-Kabeer, Number 16861, Hasan]

عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ أَفْضَلِ الْإِيمَانِ قَالَ أَفْضَلُ الْإِيمَانِ أَنْ تُحِبَّ لِلَّهِ وَتُبْغِضَ فِي اللَّهِ وَتُعْمِلَ لِسَانَكَ فِي ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَمَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَأَنْ تُحِبَّ لِلنَّاسِ مَا تُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِكَ وَتَكْرَهَ لَهُمْ مَا تَكْرَهُ لِنَفْسِكَ وَأَنْ تَقُولَ خَيْرًا أَوْ تَصْمُتَ

Ibn Mas’ud on Martyrdom: Allah took the life of the Prophet and made him a martyr


Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “If I were to swear by Allah nine times that, indeed, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has been killed, that would be more beloved to me than swearing only once, because Allah the Exalted took His Prophet and made him into a martyr.”
[Musnad Ahmad, Number 3606, Sahih]
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ لَأَنْ أَحْلِفَ بِاللَّهِ تِسْعًا إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُتِلَ قَتْلًا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَحْلِفَ وَاحِدَةً وَذَلِك بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اتَّخَذَهُ نَبِيًّا وَجَعَلَهُ شَهِيدًا

Hadith on Love: The servant does not reach true faith until he loves others for the sake of Allah

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, “The servant does not reach the reality of faith until he loves for the people what he loves for himself of goodness.”

Ahmad ibn Hanbal: Weak narrations are more beloved to me than my personal opinion

Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “A narration with a weak chain is more beloved to us than our opinion.”

Al-Bayhaqi: Being Merciful to the Creation


Al-Bayhaqi رحمه الله records in his book Al-Adab, the Chapter on Mercy for the Creation:
باب‏:‏ في تراحم الخلق
Chapter on Being Merciful to the creation
Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه reported: I heard the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وسلم say:
جَعَلَ اللَّهُ الرَّحْمَةَ مِائَةَ جُزْءٍ، فَأَمْسَكَ عِنْدَهُ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ، وَأَنْزَلَ فِي الأَرْضِ جُزْءًا وَاحِدًا، فَمِنْ ذَلِكَ الْجُزْءِ يَتَرَاحَمُ الْخَلْقُ حَتَّى تَرْفَعَ الْفَرَسُ رِجْلَهَا عَنْ وَلَدِهَا خَشْيَةَ أَنْ تُصِيبَهُ‏

Al-Bayhaqi: Love for people what you love for yourself


Al-Bayhaqi recorded in his book Al-Adab, Chapter on Love for one’s Brother:
باب‏:‏ لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى يحب لأخيه ما يحب لنفسه
Chapter: None of you have faith until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself
Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
لا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ‏
None of you have faith until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.

Hadith on Women: Allah created women different from men, so respect these differences and be kind to them


Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Treat women with kindness, for woman is created from a rib, and the most curved portion of the rib is its upper portion. So if you try to straighten it, it will break, but if you leave it as it is, it will remain curved. So treat women with kindness.”


[Sahih Bukhari, Book 55, Number 548]

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم اسْتَوْصُوا بِالنِّسَاءِ، فَإِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ خُلِقَتْ مِنْ ضِلَعٍ، وَإِنَّ أَعْوَجَ شَىْءٍ فِي الضِّلَعِ أَعْلاَهُ، فَإِنْ ذَهَبْتَ تُقِيمُهُ كَسَرْتَهُ، وَإِنْ تَرَكْتَهُ لَمْ يَزَلْ أَعْوَجَ، فَاسْتَوْصُوا بِالنِّسَاءِ
