Sahl ibn Mu’adh reported: His father heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, “The most virtuous faith is to love for the sake of Allah, to hate for the sake of Allah, and to work your tongue in the remembrance of Allah.” Mu’adh said, “What is it, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “That you love for the people what you love for yourself, and you hate for the people what you hate for yourself, and that you speak goodness or remain silent.

Hateful? Rude? Everyone Deserves Guidance

By Sheikh Salman al-Oadah at Islam Today

Someone who wishes to call other people to Islam has to be prepared to deal with those who are stubborn, rude, and downright insulting in their opposition to Islam and its message. This is one of the reasons why patience and tolerance are indispensable qualities for a Muslim preacher.
Persistence is another. No matter how much hostility and rudeness someone might exhibit when hearing about Islam, it is a mistake for a Muslim preacher to consider anyone a “lost cause.”

Say, I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn… from the Envier when he envies.

Imam Ahmad: People of Paradise have hearts free of Envy and Malice

Recorded in the Musnad of Imam Ahmad:
Anas ibn Malik رضى الله عنه said that when he was sitting with the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم , he said: “Coming upon you now is a man from the people of Paradise.” So a man came from the Ansar whose beard looked disarrayed by the water from Wudu (ablution), and he was carrying both of his shoes with his left hand. The next day the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم repeated the same words, and the Ansar came in the same condition. The third day the Prophet repeated the same again, and the Ansar man showed up in the same condition.

Al-Qurtubi: The disbelief of the disbeliever does not prevent him from enjoying justice

Al-Qurtubi said concerning the verse, “O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just,” (5:8) that this means “the disbelief of the disbeliever does not prevent him from enjoying justice.”

[Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Verse 5:8]
